Happy Valentine's Day from Campaign for Safe Cosmetics
An email arrived in my inbox this morning from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, which I am quoting verbatim.
I've added html to make the links work, and made some minor edits for clarity.
This Valentine's Day, love your body and take action to get toxic chemicals out of cosmetics and body care products!
Did you know: Of the more than 10,000 chemical ingredients in personal care products, everything from shampoo to nail polish to after shave, 89 percent have not undergone safety testing and many have been linked to cancer, birth defects, hormone disruption and other health harms?
Many of these chemicals have found their way into our bodies, our breast milk and our children. With breast cancer, birth defects and other health problems on the rise, there is no reason for these chemicals to be in our products.
Here's the good news: More than 250 cosmetics companies including The Body Shop, Burt's Bees, and many others, have signed the Compact for Safe Cosmetics, a pledge to not use hazardous chemicals and use safer alternatives to protect our health.
This Valentine's Day, love your body and protect your loved ones by taking action for safe cosmetics!
Here are 3 easy things you can do:Thank you for your help in making sure cosmetics and personal care products we use everyday are safe… because safe is beautiful!
