Blogher posts round-up: Part 2

Some more gleanings from Blogher attendees about the conference this past weekend.

  • Luxomedia - BlogHer Session #4 : "In painting, if you take all the colors, red, yellow, blue and mix them together on your palette, you get a rich BROWN that is almost black. I use this color instead of always using the monotone black that comes out of the tube. A woman artist taught me that trick. You get more variety that way. Whatever color you decide to call the multi-colored bloggers movement, I'm down with it."

  • Marian's blog - Blogher: Signs of Life in the Over-Developed World : "At the same time I do hope before too many more years go by our combined humanity (which is a capacity -not an inanimate object) will help us overcome some of our more senseless, wasteful and numbing uses of mechanised efficiency in travel. That would help us clear up some of our social symptoms - like the horrible smog that chokes California and steals some of its undeniable beauty."

  • Marian's blog also has an excellent pre-Blogher post about race and gender and when it intersects - Blogher: Women of Color - This Space between 'Gender' and 'Race' is Not Empty.

  • Halley's Comment - BlogHer: He-conferences and She-conferences : "The weirdest and most obvious thing is that everyone in the room is trying to treat everyone else with respect and actually as an equal -- not playing "I'm more powerful than you, I'm smarter than you, I work at a cooler place than you" or other forms of grand-standing I see at conferences dominated by men."

  • Spap Oop! - The Mother of All Blog Conferences : "...when an A-Lister says the A-List doesn't count, it's like a movie star saying he hates being a movie star! yes, I feel my shoes getting a little wet from Mr. Jarvis and Mr. Douglas and I'm about to grab both of them by the short hairs and stop the flow. Fer cryin' out loud guys! Stop being the Wizard beind the Curtain and just admit what you're about -- creating an old boy's network that excludes anyone who doesn't blog in the exact manner that you deem relevant."
